Selection of experimental lines, QTL detection, analysis of major genes, and analysis of gene x environment interaction

THE POULTRY EXPERIMENTAL CENTER OF TOURS (PEAT):

Species studied: chicken and quail

GABI  is involved in different programs carried out at PEAT:

- line selection
- genotype conservation and characterisation
- development of experimental methods, for example, divergent selection on residual food intake of laying hens; selection of different lines for three different immune responses; selection of dwarf laying hen lines with naked-neck; conservation and characterisation of a line producing an important population of double-yolk eggs or a line exempt of endogenous viral genes; studies on genotype x environment interactions (in particular housing and heat conditions); identification of QTL for coccidosis resistance; analysis of different mutations in the chicken and quail (colour, morphology, metabolism, genetic diseases including epilepsy).
